This Bargello lap quilt (approx. 87cm x 99cm) is available to buy for £200/€200 plus postage. It’s 100% cotton – the patchwork fabrics are “Moda” brand, the wadding is 100% cotton batting and the backing fabric – a rich red – is also 100% cotton. It is very lightweight – perfect to throw over your legs in the evenings while curling up to read a book… It also looks great just displayed on the bag of a sofa, or can be used as a wallhanging. It’s machine washable (30 degrees, slow spin – 600) – in fact, I’ve pre-washed it, to ensure there’s no shrinkage when you come to wash it yourself. It’s completely handmade, and unique – because of the way these quilts are made no two can be the same – it’s made by a fun combination of careful planning and…. luck! The photograph is a very good representation of the true colours – rich reds, blues, dark brown, cream and mustard/deep yellow. So, if you like patchwork, don’t fancy making one yourself but don’t want to risk buying one from a large manufacturer because you’re concerned about the working conditions of the people making it, you might like to consider buying this… It’s made entirely by me, here in my studio in France, where Pippa (my Golden Retriever) is usually curled up on my late father’s armchair, watching me sew!
